Dr. Nazila Ganatra is the Director of Health Products and Technologies at the State Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Health, Kenya. She provides strategic and technical leadership in strengthening Kenya’s health products and technologies ecosystem, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to safe, quality-assured, affordable and effective medicines, vaccines, diagnostics, medical devices and other essential health technologies.

In her current role, Dr. Ganatra leads and coordinates national priorities spanning health products policy and legislation, pharmaceutical systems strengthening, technical assistance, supply chain transformation, local manufacturing, research and innovation, appropriate use of health technologies, and digitalization .Additionally focusing on traditional complementary and integrative medicines. Her work supports Kenya’s broader Universal Health Coverage agenda while strengthening health security and building a more resilient and self-reliant health products ecosystem.

A key focus of her leadership is advancing Kenya’s local manufacturing agenda and creating stronger linkages between research and innovation, manufacturing, procurement and last-mile access. She is also engaged in strengthening partnerships across government, counties, development partners, academia, research institutions and the private sector to accelerate sustainable transformation of the HPT sector.

Dr. Ganatra has held several senior leadership positions within Kenya’s Ministry of Health, including Head of the Department of National Strategic Public Health Programs and Head of the Hepatitis and STI Programme. Her experience spans pharmaceutical systems, public health programming, policy development, supply chain management and evidence-informed decision-making.

She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.), a Master’s degree in Health Supply Chain Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
