Dr. John Juma is a Pharmacist and Regulatory Affairs Specialist with expertise in medical devices and in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) across African Markets. He is currently responsible for the East Africa regulatory portfolio at Becton Dickinson (BD), overseeing a wide range of medical devices and IVDs across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. His responsibilities include regulatory strategy, product registrations, lifecycle management, Health Authority engagement, regulatory intelligence, and industry advocacy. He also serves as Committee Lead of the Education and Training Committee of MEDAK, Kenya’s medical device and IVD industry association.
Dr. Juma is a RAPS Certified Medical Devices Regulatory Professional and holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Nairobi. He has a particular interest in regulatory convergence, reliance, and practical collaboration between regulators and industry as mechanisms to enhance regulatory efficiency and improve timely access to safe, effective, and quality health products and technologies.
