Dr. Vinod Guptan is a Kenyan healthcare and pharmaceutical industry leader with over 34 years of professional experience spanning healthcare systems, hospital supply chains, pharmaceutical operations, commercial strategy, market access and institutional governance across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

He has held senior leadership positions including Director – Africa Business at CONNEXI, a Chemonics Group company; Chief Executive Officer of MedSource Group; General Manager of Surgipharm Limited; Head of Commercial at EACPCL (IPS Group); and senior regional and country leadership roles with Claris Lifesciences, Harleys and Core Healthcare.

Dr. Guptan brings extensive practical experience in strengthening hospital and healthcare supply chains, procurement and distribution systems, operational efficiency, strategic planning, digital transformation, financial sustainability and governance. His work has involved developing and implementing systems that connect manufacturers, distributors, hospitals, pharmacies, healthcare providers and public-sector stakeholders to improve availability, efficiency and access to quality healthcare products.

His professional interests include health systems strengthening, hospital management, local pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain resilience, strategic partnerships, public–private collaboration and healthcare governance. He has worked extensively with diverse stakeholders across emerging healthcare markets, with particular focus on building sustainable African healthcare ecosystems.

Dr. Guptan also contributes to healthcare-sector governance and industry development through leadership positions including Board Director and Board Lead of the Supply Chain Committee of the Kenya Healthcare Federation, and previous leadership roles within the Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industry and other healthcare and humanitarian organisations.

A strong advocate for African capacity building and resilient healthcare systems, Dr. Guptan believes that strengthening the interface between local manufacturing, regulatory systems, hospital operations and supply chains is fundamental to achieving sustainable access to quality healthcare across the continent.
