As Chairman, Dr. Munyu provides strategic leadership and governance oversight of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (the “Board”).

Dr. Munyu has over three decades of public and private sector leadership experience, including serving as CEO of Kenya Medical Supplies Authority from 2006 to 2016.  He is currently overseeing a broad regulatory reform agenda at the Board, focused on strengthening the regulatory system, combating substandard and falsified medicines, advancing digital transformation, and enhancing standards for pharmacy practice.

In 2015, he received the Best Health Business Manager Award from the European Business Assembly. In 2011, he was awarded the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) for exemplary performance in health management and medical supply chain service delivery,

Education & Expertise

• With a background in Pharmacy and a Master of Business Administration, Dr. Munyu is an expert in regulatory systems strengthening, health systems management, pharmaceutical supply chain management, and institutional governance.

Dr. Munyu is passionate about community and social initiatives, particularly activities supporting children’s welfare and community sporting activities.
