Neema Joseph Nagu is a Senior Medical Devices Officer at the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA), with over 15 years of experience in the health sector, including four years specializing in medical device regulations.

She leads coordination with manufacturers, marketing authorization holders, importers, distributors, healthcare facilities, and development partners to strengthen medical device regulation in Tanzania. Her work focuses on post-market surveillance, stakeholder capacity building and coordination of the safe disposal of unserviceable medical devices.

Ms. Nagu has led two notable initiatives: establishing a digital data collection system for post-market surveillance of medical equipment and coordinating Tanzania’s first national disposal of unserviceable medical equipment. These initiatives have strengthened regulatory oversight and contributed to the safety, quality, and performance of medical devices.

She holds MSc in Applied Epidemiology, MSc in Pharmaceutical Analysis, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy. At the 6th AfriSummit 2026, she aims to share Tanzania’s regulatory experiences and learn from regional best practices to advance equitable access to safe, quality, and affordable medical devices across Africa.
