Sarah Cohen is the Strategic Executive Officer of SALDA and an independent consultant in the IVD and laboratory industry.

Sarah has more than 30 years of experience in laboratory testing and research, specialising in IVDs and clinical trials. She liaises with SALDA members and other stakeholders across the medical technology industry, with a particular emphasis on IVDs. She takes a solutions-driven approach to assisting the industry in navigating regulatory requirements, product importation, tenders, validation and health technology assessment.

Sarah represents SALDA on the SAHPRA Regulatory Technical Forum. She is also a member of the Medical Devices Professionals Group and the South African Clinical Trials Association, and serves as an ASLM Ambassador.

She is passionate about training, lecturing and mentoring clinical trial and laboratory personnel, as well as upskilling the next generation of pharmaceutical sciences students for the medical technology industry.

Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Management from Pretoria, a master’s degree in Operations Management from Johannesburg and an MBA from Australia.
