Tanya Vogt holds a BA Honours degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, majoring in African Literature and Archaeology. She has served as Executive Officer of SAMED since 2007. SAMED is a not-for-gain industry association representing 167 companies across medical devices, equipment, and in vitro diagnostics in South Africa, with a mission to advance patient access through a sustainable, ethical, and transformed medtech sector.

Tanya plays an active leadership role both locally and internationally. She serves on the NAPPI Advisory Board, contributes to the Medical Devices and In Vitro Diagnostics Innovation Cluster (MeDDIC), and participates in the Health Sector Anti-Corruption Forum. She has also supported the development and implementation of South Africa’s MedTech Masterplan to strengthen local manufacturing.

Internationally, she is a board member of the Global Medical Technology Alliance. She is also a strong advocate for women’s empowerment within the medtech industry and was instrumental in developing the medtech women empowerment index. Outside of her professional role, Tanya is a dedicated single mother of a special needs son and enjoys gardening, cooking, wine tasting, and spending time in nature.
